Absolute Photography: Clear after the Storm - Grande Prairie Fine Art Photography
Lately most of us have been shovelling in our spare time, when we don't have time, and every moment in between. Or at least that's what it feels like! Something like 30-40 cm of snow fell last weekend, creating terrible roads, stuck cars, and sore backs!! But today the sun came out and I was able to capture just a tiny bit of the beautiful place I call home. After all that - it doesn't look so terrible out there does it!?
Absolute Photography: Frosty Friday - Grande Praire Fine Art Photography
I woke up to some frost on the ground this morning. As the sun rose I decided that I needed to get outside and capture some of the light shining through the frost on all the plant life. Abbie and I bundled up and headed out for a quick walk. I think these 3 would look awesome printed either on canvas or framed all the same and hung all in a row.

This past weekend I spent down at Pipestone with my family (all of them.. it was a reunion!!). In the summertime I am always drawn to the fields of Canola blooming in such vibrant yellow. So as I was driving South of Wembley I had to stop and snap a couple of photos of the beautiful sky and yellow crops. I just love all of the clouds against the bright blue sky! Had to stop and take some photo's of this orchard in bloom on Sunday! GORGEOUS. This is one thing we definitely miss out on in the Peace Country. My local "experts" say these are apricot trees. I can't wait for the cherries, apples, peaches, etc! So many flowers to come. This Sunday some of us are having a "mock" wedding photoshoot in this very orchard. Can't wait! I have so many ideas :)

This weeks school assignment was based on the category of fine art. What is fine art really? I think that anything could be considered fine art in a way! The particulars for the assignment was "something you would hang on your wall". This particular photo isn't what I handed in - but it I still enjoy it and it is closer to my usual style than the two I did hand in. Maybe I will post those later! This spool reminds me of my childhood - first a playhouse made out of a spool similar to this (except for much larger) and then after our move to Dawson we seemed to have oodles of these around the yard! Mom used them as "outside coffee tables" etc. I think she might have finally snuck them all into the burn pile by now though!!
Absolute Photography: Beautiful Morning - Grande Prairie Photography
I woke up this morning to a text from GP "All sorts of crazy fog today". This week is the A2Z challenge for the letter "F" so I was immediately wishing I was at home. Then an hour later I peek out my own curtains and it IS foggy here! Out the door I run without even combing my hair and off to take pictures of fog. I drove out to where I took my last great fog pictures and unfortunately that was about the only NOT foggy place around. So I drove around some more but nothing foggy was really striking my fancy so I headed towards home. On the way I forced myself to stop and take at least SOME photo's and here are my two favorites.
This first one is a place I am sure everyone with a camera has stopped at - but ever since the first time I saw it I knew I would be taking photos of it more than once this year. I am sure all the footprints in the muck are from photographers! The ice today was melting and so the pond was gurgling and gulping and groaning. I think the blue sky is fantastic though!
I have no idea what this plant even is but they were growing in the ditch with the cat-tails. I think they are super neat looking!

My weekly A2Z photo challenge picture is a tad early this week - I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the letter D and I know this week is going to end up being fairly busy by Friday so I figured I would get it all up and done today :)
Absolute Photography: Happy {Belated} Holidays!! - Grande Prairie Photography
On my trip home over Christmas Break I of course had my camera handy! I tried out some of the new things learned last quarter and for the most part just had fun taking some photos of the familiar for FUN. Not for homework or for a client.. neat concept ;)
These were shot between Valemount and McBride on my way up North.

Santa was wonderful this year too! I found a new lens under the tree - so the first of these are taken with my "old faithful" fave lens of all time and then anything (except the cabin pic) from here on in this post was taken with my new SWEET probably soon to be new favorite Pentax 2.8 16-50mm! Enjoy.

Absolute Photography: Gone to the Birds - Alberta & British Columbia Photographer
As I was still working on getting that "great" action shot I spent some more time at the park yesterday and who did I see? About 20 or so of these big white guys! Most of them just stood there in the water and pretended to sleep - but with some patience this fella decided to have a nice big stretch for the camera!
I wasn't so sure that any of those pictures had turned out though so I kept shooting. Today I found a field of Canada Geese - and I hate to say it, but I wasn't very polite and I definately intruded on their nap time while trying to get them to fly around a bit. Isn't this the cutest thing? Geese mate for life :)
