Australia.. to the end!

Sunday

Mom and I walked to the huge convention center next to the hotel to go to the "Be Creative" trade show. Very cool! It was a trade show of quilt stores, bead stores, and in general crafting stuff everywhere! We went to a little seminar on recovering furniture and the guy showed us how to recover an old chair. There is a chair in my living room that I very much need to do this to!

Our hotel just happened to be next to some old expo grounds - so there are plenty of nice paths, a huge ferris wheel (that we rode in the dark on Saturday night), and a very cute little outdoor market thing. Tons of stuff to look at! We stopped for some nachos and a drink in the sun at one of the many neat looking sidewalk bars along the way.

Sunday night was another dinner cruise. This one was an old paddle wheeler that went up and down the big river that flows through Brisbane. As it was a holiday there were fireworks to watch etc. Very cool.

Once back at the hotel Mom and I took a jaunt over to where the ferris wheel was to get a couple pictures of it in the dark. As we walked back along the path I saw the one animal in Australia I wasnt that interested in seeing! Yup.. a RAT. EWWWW. I definately squealed and even jumped up and down! A local guy walking along the path towards us was totally laughing at me being squeamish at the sight of a rat.. but seriously! I am very happy we dont have these wandering around our streets at home!

Monday

hmm.. 30 hours on a plane or waiting in an airport. I think that pretty much says it all!

In conclusion - A great trip! I definately have to go back.. someday!
